Web25 apr. 2011 · never tried it with my ar. however on active duty, i had a m16-a2, and 20+ mags to shoot as we were getting rid of extra ammo, ( everyone had 20+ mags). i fired it on burst till the barrel was red hot, then dropped down to single shot. never had a problem. the key to keeping a ar/m16 working a long time clean, or dirty, is to keep it well oiled. I always recommend you swab the chamber out and use a chamber brush before you shoot it so you can get out any of the anti-rust oil that they put in there.
